Clubul de Speologie "Emil Racoviță" București - in English


       A non-governmental organisation, without profit, non-political, founded in November 5, 1969, with a juridical personality since 1995.

       Aims: the research of karstic areas and caves; premiered researchs about environment; the publication of the results; the protection of the karst and the environment; the physical, moral and intellectual development of young people, the participation of the members of the club at an associative life, relations with organisations from other countries and also country.

       Between 1969-1995 were obtained, among other things, the following results: 1030 caves were discovered and explored (8, 6% of the caves of Romania); 103 km of surveyed galleries, 14 km of surveyed verticals, the best club of speleology in the classification of republican competitions during the period 1978-1992; 23 issues edited and published by self-administration; 70 national records; 2 world records and other explorations since international fine record; exceptional discoveries for the science and the culture in Romania and in the world (the paleolithic paintings from cave of Cuciulat, the archeologic discoveries of Grădiștea de Munte - the first century, one of the most important cave in salt of the world, the caves from Romania situated higher than 2000 m altitude); 400 articles, scientific workshops, notes, translations published in Romania and abroad.

       Born in București (1950). Graduate (in 1973) of Faculty of Automation of Polytechnical Institute of București.
       He founded, in 1969, the Caving club "Emil Racoviță" București.
       After the dictatorship of the communism (1989) he was a founder and a vice-president of the Federation for Tourism, Mountain Rescue, Speleology; a founder and a vice-president of the Society for Speleology and Karstology; a founder of the Youth National Tourist Club; a founder of the Union of Romanian Journalists for Environment.
       Now is editor-in-chief of the Munții Carpați (The Carpathians) magazine (trekking, caving, mountaineering).
       Member in the Committee for Great Caves as part of International Union of Speleology (from 1977), member in the Association of Romanian Artist Cameramen (from 1988).
       He has participated at the drafting writing out for 45 speleologycal volumes and 19 tourist magazines, he has 350 articles and notes published in Romania and abroad, he presented hundreds conferences with slides.
