DEAR FRIENDS,

The Federation of the Bulgarian Alpine Cubs is going to organize National Ice Climbing Championship on 18-19 February on a natural ice and rock in the region of h.a Skakvitsaa in Rila Mountain. Due to our aim to popularize and develop the beautiful sport of ice climbing and to exchange experience with foreign climbers we decided to expand the event to Open Balkan Ice Climbing Competition. We would like to invite climbers from all Balkan Mountaineering Federations to take part in the competition.
Here follows the provisional program and details about the competition:

17-th February 2006 (Friday)

till 20, 00 h. a arriving and accommodation in a hut a Skakavitsaa, Rila Mountain
20, 30 h. a technical meeting

18- February 2006 . (Saturday)

09, 00 . a qualifications - route and route B

19- February 2006 . (Sunday)

10, 00 h. a final
15, 00 . a award and closing ceremony


Therea s no limit for the number of participants in the competition from a national federation. We would be happy to meet as many climbers as you send. The start fee is 15 EUR per competitor. The accommodation and food in the hut costs approximately 10-13 EUR per day. The access to the hut is:
1. with a public transport a Sofia - Dupnitsa (60 km.) - by buss or train; from the town of Dupnitsa to a Panichishtea resort (30 km.); walking -1, 5-2 hours
2. by your own car a to a Pionerskaa hut; walking a 1, 5 hours
3. the organizers can provide a transport by car from any place you ask for. The payment will be according the travel distance.
